As a general rule we recommend the following: Send:
- Save news NOT sent to the server. If your client is sending mail through the SMTP server of Google Mail, a copy of sent messages are automatically saved in the folder [Gmail] / Sent .
- You Save drafts on the server. If you would like the drafts in your e-mail client be synchronized with the web interface of Gmail, you can configure your client to drafts to the [Gmail] / Drafts be saved.
- NOT save deleted messages on the server . For messages that are deleted from an IMAP folder (except for those in [Gmail] / Spam or [Gmail] / Trash ), only the label is removed, but they are still in All news available. The client needs to save so an additional copy of a deleted message.
- Save Deleted messages in the folder NOT [Gmail] / Trash , because this will delete the message from all folders.
- NOT save deleted messages in the folder [Gmail] / All Mail , as some clients will try, this folder to empty. This can lead to delays in accessing your mail or excessive battery consumption on a mobile device.
- Select NOT the junk mail filters within your client. The spam filters also work in your Gmail IMAP client. We therefore recommend to disable additional spam or junk mail filters within your client. The filter of your clients will attempt to download all your existing messages and classified. This means that your client is slow until the process is complete.
