Please note that in Firefox 3.0 by default set to use IMAP. If you add additional e-mail accounts with IMAP access, please read the instructions below.
To set up your Thunderbird client for Gmail:

1. Make sure you enable IMAP in Gmail and select Save Changes click when you're done.
2. Open Thunderbird.
3. Click on the Tools menu and select Account Settings ... out.
4. Select left in the drop-down list below the account list add e-mail account ... out.

5. The first dialog in the automatic account configuration of Thunderbird is displayed. Enter your name, your Gmail address and password. Click Next .

6. The Gmail server is queried by Thunderbird and the corresponding IMAP connection settings are automatically configured for you. is then displayed in Thunderbird, a confirmation dialog box similar to the following:

7. Check the connection settings are the settings described above, and click Create Account .
8. Read our recommended client settings and adjust the settings of your clients as needed.
